Laparoscopy

‘Laparoscopy’ or ‘Diagnostic Laparoscopy’ is a specialized surgery technique which is also known as ‘Minimally Invasive Surgery’ or ‘Keyhole Surgery’. This advanced type of surgery is performed by using smaller incision than you might think.
In the past, this surgical technique was commonly performed to access the inside of the abdomen, like gall bladder surgery. But, over the last 10 years, the technique expanded to the advanced level where it is used to perform intestinal surgery. Most of the intestinal surgeries are performed for rectal prolapse, cancer, diverticulitis, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, and other severe constipation health issues. However, in the past, the controversy took place questioning the safety concerns of cancer operations through laparoscopic surgery. Recently, reports of a number of patients evidently show that certain colorectal cancer operations are safe through laparoscopic surgery.
In this technique, an instrument called laparoscope is used by surgeons. The laparoscope is a small tube sized instrument with a high-intensity light and a high-resolution camera at the front which displays inside images of pelvis or abdomen to the computer monitor.

Surgeons prefer this technique over tradition surgery producers due to avail as well as deliver few benefits—

  1. Less bleeding and less pain after the surgery of laparoscopy
  2. Reduce fear as it is done with a very small incision (cut)
  3. Faster recovery
